Cryptocurrency Investment: A Tool for Digital Transformation of International Business

Abstract

The article reveals the impact of cryptocurrency investments as an advanced tool for the digital transformation of international business in the context of globalization and the development of the digital economy. Results of an analysis of the dynamics of the global cryptocurrency market in 2020–2025 are shown. The role of cryptocurrency assets in the transformation of international financial relations, increasing the speed of cross-border transactions, and optimizing international business processes is underlined. The key theoretical approaches to understanding cryptocurrencies as an investment tool and a component of digital financial infrastructure are outlined. The main trends in the cryptocurrency market, the peculiarities of blockchain technology applications in international business, and the impact of digital assets on the investment activities of international corporations are highlighted. The advantages and risks of cryptocurrency investments, including high volatility, regulatory restrictions, and cybersecurity challenges, are shown. The contribution of cryptocurrency investment in competitiveness enhancement in the business sector and creating innovative business models is demonstrated. Economic, legal, and technological challenges faced by Ukraine in integrating into the global market of digital assets are outlined: poor regulation of the cryptocurrency market; lack of a coherent scheme for regulation of digital exchanges, taxation of cryptoptocurrency transactions, and control over the origins of digital assets; uncertainties related to the legal status of cryptocurrencies, procedures for licensing of market players and mechanisms for protection of investors; inadequate market transparency, increasing the risks of financial fraud, money laundering and use of cryptocurrencies in shadow financial transactions; high volatility of digital assets; cyber risks and poor level of digital security.
