Analysis of investment attractiveness: the case of Vinnytsya region

Abstract

The objective of the study is to analyze investment attractiveness of a region by case of Vinnytsya region A brief review of theoretical approaches to interpretation of the notion 'investment attractiveness” is made, which allows for considering investment attractiveness as an aggregated measure of regions in the investment performance context. The two groups of factorsfnational and local) for the investment attractiveness of a region are highlighted The chTraccddTof Vinnytsya region are given to illustrate that the region, with favorable local factors for investment attractiveness  in place, can be representative one for the investment

A statistical analysis of the investment attractiveness of Vinnytsya region is made by indicators of foreZn direct investment (FDI) amount, EDI structure by investing country, and FDI structure bv economic activity. The analysis shows that the investment of this region is essentially high, as the region features diversified FDI regaiding F v investing8country and FDI by economic activity, with the most sectors being foods and beverages and agriculture, accounting in total at of FDI The FDI amount in the region was being steadily up from2011till January, but fell in 2014. The conclusion is made that in view of FDI fall after 2014 the investment attractiveness of this region worsened largely due to unfavorable national factors of which the strongest one was economic and political instability (warfare it the East of Ukraine).
