Abstract

Management problems are of priority significance for contemporary enterprises operatingin the rapidly changing external environment. To have stable performance, enterprisesneed to find effective methods for response on the changing external environment. Solutions can be found in application of ideas from the live systems theory and the mechanism for adaptation in the controlling subsystem as a tool for enterprise management. The article objective is to study the expediency of use of the adaptive controlling for enterprise management in the rapidly changing external environment on the basis of the livesystems theory. An enterprise is studied from the live system perspective. The notion of enterprise as alive system and an autopoiesis network, its interactions with the external environment and ways for its survival and adaptation to the changing external environment are analyzed. Methods of system analysis and the live systems theory are used. The following conclusions are made from the study: a modern enterprise conforms to the features of alive system with hierarchical level- an organization; the network is the principle structural pattern of an enterprise; adaptation can be regarded as the principal way of the enterprise’s interactions with the external environment; adaptation of an enterprise should be interpreted in the two dimensions: response on the changing external environment, and adaptation and complication of the structure of autopoiesis network; management system ata modern enterprise needs to be built by use of adaptive controlling mechanisms.
